An owner has asked if he may place a player on the IR before week 1. The answer is yes, however, please wait until after the draft is over to do so.
Therefore, if you draft 18 total players, you would normally need to trade or waive 2 of them prior to week 1 to make the roster limit. If however you have a player that is eligible for IR, then you may place them on IR to get under the roster limit.
Please wait until after the draft has concluded to make any IR moves. Thank you.

Isnt being able to place a player on IR before the mandatory roster trim to 16 players cheating the system? I mean I can go and get whoever I want that is hurt, just to be able to keep them on IR and draft someone else I wan (if they are available) I think it makes sense no one should be allowed to make an IR move until their roster is down to 16, then if they want to pick up a player to fill the roster spot the take the chance on the waiver wire.

True, but it would also be cheating the owner of their draft picks. I am not going to punish an owner because they acquired additional draft picks. If I make them cut their extra picks, then make them use the waiver system, they are on equal footing with everyone else. I am not going to reward the person with 4 draft picks and punish the team with 10 draft picks.
