Here is the plan that the NFLFFL is using regarding possible changes (or cancellation) to the 2020 season for you to read.
MFL PAYMENT SCENARIOS (this is set by mfl no matter what - we can't change this)
1. CANCELED SEASON: If the NFL cancels the 2020 season completely, all league payments will be automatically carried over to the 2021 season.
2. SHORTENED SEASON: If the NFL plays at least 1 week, but fewer than 7 weeks, it will be considered a partial season. Again, league payments will be carried over to the 2021 season.
3. FULL SEASON: If the NFL plays at least 7 weeks of the season (more than half of our usual regular season total), whether continuous or not, it will be considered a full season. League payments will be applied to the 2020 fantasy season.
IN THE EVENT THE NFL ANNOUNCES A CANCELED OR SHORTENED SEASON PRIOR TO WEEK 1 (Regardless of a late start or early finish):
1) CANCELED SEASON:
No trading during what would have been the 2020 season.
If the season is cancelled before the NFLFFL draft has begun, then the draft order for the 2021 Rookie Draft would remain the same as it was for 2020. However, all picks that have been traded prior to the 2020 NFLFFL draft would remain in place, based on the order and placement of picks immediately prior to the draft. Keepers would also remain in place… unless the league votes to return to end of 2019 status instead.
If the season is cancelled after the NFLFFL draft has begun (or even if the draft has concluded), the draft results will be rolled back as if it never happened to the keeper declaration deadline… unless the league votes to return to end of 2019 status instead.
2) PRE-ANNOUNCED SHORTENED SEASON OF 7-9 WEEKS
The regular season champion will be crowned League Champion for the year, using the tiebreakers voted on the message board.
Rookie draft order will be based on regular season standings, using the same tiebreakers.
The league will vote on the message board whether to use all-play record, then total points, and then power ranking as tiebreakers or total points, then all-play record, and then power ranking.
3) PRE-ANNOUNCED SHORTENED SEASON OF 10+ WEEKS
The NFLFFL schedule will be modified so that it concludes 4 weeks prior to the announced end of the NFL season.
Normal playoff brackets will be utilized, and proceed as normal across the last four weeks of the scheduled season.
Rookie draft order will be based on the order of finish as mandated by our standard playoff seeding methodology and normal tiebreakers.
If the season is scheduled for 10+ weeks, but the season is subsequently truncated so that the games during Zealots playoff weeks are not played, the tiebreakers voted on the message board will apply.
IN THE EVENT THE NFL ANNOUNCES A SHORTENED SEASON AFTER WEEK 1 BEGINS:
1) IF THE SEASON ENDS BEFORE WEEK 7,
Then according to MFL, the season will not have occurred.
The draft order for the 2021 Rookie Draft would remain the same as it was for 2020. However, all picks that have been traded prior to the 2020 NFLFFL draft would remain in place, based on the order and placement of picks immediately prior to the draft… unless the league votes to return to end of 2019 status instead.
2) IF THE SEASON ENDS BEFORE WEEK 10,
The regular season champion will be crowned League Champion for the year, using the tiebreakers voted on the message board.
Rookie draft order will be based on regular season standings, using the tiebreakers voted on the message board.
3) IF THE SEASON ENDS BETWEEN WEEKS 10 AND 13 AND IT IS ANNOUNCED WITH LESS THAN 4 WEEKS REMAINING,
The regular season champion will be crowned League Champion for the year, using the tiebreakers voted on the message board.
Rookie draft order will be based on regular season standings, using the tiebreakers voted on the message board.
4) IF THE SEASON ENDS ON OR AFTER WEEK 10 AND AT LEAST 4 MORE WEEKS WILL BE PLAYED,
The NFLFFL schedule will be modified so that it concludes four weeks prior to the announced end of the NFL season. Normal playoff brackets will be utilized and proceed as normal across the last four weeks of the scheduled season. Rookie draft order will be based on the order of finish as mandated by our standard playoff seeing methodology.
If the season is subsequently truncated so that the games are not played, the League Champion will be the highest seeded team remaining in the playoffs. Normal tiebreakers would apply. Order of finish will be determined first by non-playoff teams, then by the remaining playoff teams, using our standard methodology.
