For those of you in need of a RB, Theo Riddick can be had (and probably on the cheap).
He's getting high praise from his back up QB (who works with him daily): "Theo's too good to not put on the field," Orlovsky said. "Theo has stuff that you can't coach, that you can't teach, that you're born from God with. He just has an ability to get open better than everyone else."
Kyle Meinke (the Lions beat writer for MLive) believes Riddick "could see major time in the slot this year. Riddick, a former receiver at Notre Dame, is easily the team’s best receiver out of the backfield, and that’s a valuable card to have up your sleeve.".
From RotoViz:
"First is that Riddick is probably a better pass catcher than either Joique Bell or Ameer Abdullah at this point. Second is that, if offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi mimics his New Orleans roots, having three backs with diverse skill sets on the roster seems likely. Bell is the grinder a la Mark Ingram. Abdullah is the hybrid a la Pierre Thomas. Then Riddick (who barely ran the ball at all last year despite Reggie Bush’s ineffectiveness) is the designated pass catcher, a la Darren Sproles."
And don't forget about Allen Hurns. A number 2/3 receiver has to be drafted in a 32 team, 9 round draft. Figure out what round you'd draft him in, send that pick to me and he's yours! I'll even send a pick back to you if I must.
