From our league rules:
"Any non-keeper (a player drafted in the first three rounds) that is dropped after week six (6), also the trade deadline, will be considered "dead" for the remainder of the season. He may not be picked up on waivers by any team. This is to prevent collusion among owners."
Please research the player you want to pick up before making your request. It's a pain to have to keep changing the commish abilities setup every week to reverse a waivers gaffe.
Thanks!
Ken

It should be put to a league vote since there is much division on whether it makes sense or not.

I don't see how this rule cannot be in place. All the people in favor of eliminating this really need to think hard about it.
For example since I'm eliminated from the playoffs I could cut Patrick Willis (#1 scoring LB) to pick up a potential keeper. Then a lower seeded playoff team could pick him up to significantly help his team. If multiple non playoff teams cut their good non keepers the lower seeded playoff teams could completely refortify their team and end up with stronger teams than the tops seeds.
Even though I'd love to see someone knock off the Rams, I don't think this would be a fair way of that happening. ;D
Unless we went to a different waiver system (blind bidding or something along those lines) that would give everyone an equal shot at the free agents I don't see how we can eliminate this rule.

I put in a waiver for crowder but then I saw that he was drafted before round 4 and I deleted the waiver. I guess I made a mistake and it didn't remove my request. I was aware of the rule and realized that it was an illegal waiver. Sorry about that.

Has this ever happened before? I guess, since I'm new in the league, that I don't think there is anyone really worthwhile for me to drop someone I picked in the first three rounds to be a keeper for me. I dropped Hardy because he sucks this year... should I probably kept him... yeah, probably... but I'm not looking to next year.. I'm looking to get into the playoffs... I just disagree with the rule. I don't think there should be any dead players. And I doubt many teams will drop their first round picks to pick up garbage..... what is out there now isn't worth having as a keeper....or it would be on a team...

It doesn't matter if the players out there are worthwhile, they are keepers period. It gives teams options in the offseason for trades etc.
And yes, it has happened before that good non-keepers were dropped towards the end of the season.

Ernie Sims was drafted in the 2nd round and therefore is a "dead" player. Sorry Packers.
